Windows 10: Problem with desktop icons

I had a program on my laptop and the company wanted $400 to continue using it for another year and I was like no so the guy on the phone said he needed me to give him control of my pc and I did. After about an hour and a half I was like this isn't right made the guy cease and desist what he was doing which he did but now I no longer have icons or anything on my desktop nor can I put things there. I've tried everything to correct the problem but nothing. My next step is taking it to some local company to see what they can achieve. Can someone point me in the right direction before I do that?

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

As per the issue description I understand that you are facing issues with desktop icons.

I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

• Right click on the desktop.
• Click on view
• Check the option auto arrange icons.

This issue could be caused if the Desktop Icons are hidden.

1. May I know, if you are aware of any recent changes made to the system after which you are facing this issue?
2. Which version and edition of Windows is installed on the computer?

I suggest you go through this articleShow, hide, or
resize desktop icons follow the steps, if the icons are hidden, you should get it back.



If you want to pin any icon to desktop you can check

Pin apps and folders to the desktop or taskbar and you can easily access them from the desktop screen.
