Windows 10: Problem with detecting proxy server by win. 8.1.

Problem with auto detecting proxy server by win. 8.1 internet conn. is working but says router is limited , also Ethernet is limited. On setting everything is ok. Option automatically detect proxy setting is ON. Shutting off router didn't help. What can I do more? Something with Explorer? I use Chrome as default.

Windows could not automatically detect this network’s proxy settings

Hi - Just so you know, I'm marking this "problem solved". I found this online How to Solve the Windows Could Not Automatically Detect Network Proxy Settings Error. Doing the last step under #2 is what solved the problem. McAvee is still scanning incoming. McAvee & Malwarebytes still show no problems with a full scan. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

If you're using a proxy server, it is possible that the issue is with the proxy settings. We recommend checking for the proxy settings to see if it is correct. To access the proxy settings, follow these steps:

• Click the Windows logo (Start button).
• Click the gear icon (Settings).
• Select Network & Internet.
• On the left pane, choose Proxy.

If the proxy settings are correct, we recommend that you disable Use a proxy server and enable
Automatically detect settings. After enabling the automatic settings, check if you will be able connect to the Internet.

Proxy Server Automatic reset

Let’s check the proxy settings and modify them if they are not configured correctly.

• 
  Type Proxy on the start menu search, click on Change Proxy settings.

  Under Automatic Proxy setup.
  
• 
  Move the Automatically detect settings bar to ON.
  
• 
  Under Manual Proxy settings.
  
• 
  Move the Use a proxy server bar to OFF.
  

If the issue persists even after disabling the proxy settings, check the proxy settings in Internet Explorer. Follow the steps to disable proxy.

  Click the Gear box at the top right corner in Internet Explorer.
  
• 
  Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
  
• 
  Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.
  
• 
  Uncheck the option Use a Proxy Server for your LAN.
  
• 
  Click Apply and Ok to cave changes.
  

You can also check if some third party software is causing the problem. Try to uninstall the program and see if it corrects the problem.
