  1. Problem with Game Bar/Xbox Party System

I'm not sure when this exactly happened but Game bar, more specifically the Xbox party system, is totally bricked. Not sure if some update destroyed it but I struggle to join Xbox parties through Game Bar and the Xbox app. It has become practically unusable and is extremely frustrating, to try and get this **** to work.

  2. Xbox game bar crashes when entering party

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

If you are experiencing crashes with the Xbox Game Bar when entering a party on your Windows 10 PC, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

    1. Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter: Windows 10 includes built-in troubleshooters for various issues. Try running the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter to identify and fix any problems with the Xbox Game Bar.
      • Press Windows key + I to open "Settings."
      • Go to "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
      • Under "Find and fix other problems," click on "Windows Store Apps" and follow the on-screen instructions.
    2. Reinstall Xbox Game Bar: You can try reinstalling the Xbox Game Bar to ensure you have the latest version and that any potential corrupted files are replaced.
      • Press Windows key + I to open "Settings."
      • Go to "Apps" > "Apps & features."
      • Locate and select "Xbox Game Bar."
      • Click on "Uninstall" and confirm the action.
      • Restart your computer.
      • Reinstall the Xbox Game Bar from the Microsoft Store.
    3. Check for Conflicting Software: Some third-party applications can conflict with the Xbox Game Bar. Temporarily disable or uninstall any software that might interfere with the Game Bar, such as game overlays, screen recording tools, or antivirus software.

Disclaimer: Follow these steps to temporarily turn off real-time Microsoft Defender antivirus protection in Windows Security. However, keep in mind that if you do so, your device may be vulnerable to threats. So please turn on it immediately once issue fixed.
    4. Run a Clean Boot: Performing a clean boot can help identify if third-party software is causing conflicts with the Xbox Game Bar. Here's how to do it:
      • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
      • Type msconfig and press Enter.
      • In the "System Configuration" window, go to the "Services" tab.
      • Check the box that says "Hide all Microsoft services."
      • Click "Disable all."
      • Go to the "Startup" tab and click "Open Task Manager."
      • Disable all startup items.
      • Close Task Manager and click "OK" in the "System Configuration" window.
      • Restart your computer.
    5. Create a local administrator account and check whether the problem disappears under the new account.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

  3. Xbox Game Bar mic not working in parties.

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you're experiencing a specific issue with Xbox Game Bar on Windows, where your microphone only functions properly when the Game Bar is actively open on your screen. This can be frustrating, especially since it seems you've already tried a number of potential solutions. Let's go through a few additional troubleshooting steps that might help resolve the issue:

    1. Check Privacy Settings for Microphone:
      • Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
      • Ensure that the option "Allow apps to access your microphone" is turned on.
      • Scroll down to make sure the Xbox Game Bar is also allowed to access the microphone.
    2. Run the Audio Troubleshooter:
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
      • Select "Playing Audio" and then "Run the troubleshooter". Follow the on-screen instructions.
    3. Update Audio Drivers:
      • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
      • Expand the “Audio inputs and outputs” section.
      • Right-click your microphone and select “Update driver”.
      • You can also check the manufacturer's website for the latest driver updates.
    4. Check Xbox Game Bar Settings:
      • Open Xbox Game Bar and go to its settings.
      • Look for any microphone-related settings and adjust them if necessary.
    5. Disable Exclusive Mode in Microphone Properties:
      • Right-click on the sound icon in your system tray and select Sounds.
      • Go to the Recording tab, right-click your microphone, and select Properties.
      • Under the Advanced tab, uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”.
    6. Reinstall Xbox Game Bar using a Different Method:
      • Instead of using PowerShell, try uninstalling and reinstalling Xbox Game Bar through the Microsoft Store or system settings.
    7. Check for Windows Updates:
      • Sometimes, such issues are resolved in the latest Windows updates.
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security and check for updates.
    8. Create a New User Account:
      • Sometimes, user account issues can cause such problems. Try creating a new user account on your PC and see if the issue persists there.

Thank you for your patience and understanding! If you have any questions, feel free to leave us a message.

    Sincerely

Not receiving Xbox party notifications on Game Bar App!

    Hello✨ResidentTrap✨,

Thank you for your contribution to the Microsoft community.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with receiving Xbox party notifications on the Game Bar app. Just a reminder, here on community we are not able to double check accounts and devices to check for the possible issue. What we can do here is provide/guide customers with possible troubleshooting steps for the issue.

Before proceeding, I need to know more details so that we can get the best possible troubleshooting for you.

    -Is everything completely working before?
-May I know what was the last changes/updates you made on your end before the issue occurred?
-Are you getting any error message?

-What version of Windows are you running on your end?

Basing on the statement you provided above, here are some troubleshooting steps that you may try:

Make sure that notifications for the Game Bar app are turned on. To do this, go to Settings > System > Notifications & actions > Game Bar and make sure that the toggle switch is turned on.

•Check your Xbox Live privacy settings
Make sure that your Xbox Live privacy settings allow for party notifications. To do this, go to account.xbox.com > Privacy & online safety > Xbox Live privacy > View details & customize > Communication & multiplayer and make sure that "Party invitations" is set to "Allow".

    •Reinstall the Game Bar app
Uninstall the Game Bar app and then reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.
