Windows 10: Problem with Importing Favorites

Against my whishes a new version of Chrome Edge was installed on my laptop #1. I just tried to import Favorites from laptop #2, using an exported HTML file. I go through the procedure and it reports that the import has completed, BUT, the favorites on laptop #1 have not changed. Any advice?

Can't Import Internet Explorer Favorites into Edge

Vardhaman,

I'm having the same problem importing favorites from Internet Explorer. Your answer totally ignores his question.

"Please make sure you are following correct steps to import favorites."

• Select More actions (...) > Settings.
  (STOP: At this point EDGE says: ""couldn't import favorites", so we CANNOT GO TO STEP 2)
• Select Import favorites from another browser and choose from the list.
• To see your favorites, select Hub > Favorites.

Step1: Check Favorites folder in User profile.

  Open C: Drive.
  
• 
  Select User.
  
• 
  Select user profile.
  
• 
  Click on Favorites.
  
• 
  If you’re able to see the favorites list, then you will be able to import the Favorites from there.
  

Step 2: Import Favorites from folder or from browser.

• 
  Open the Microsoft EDGE browser.
  
• 
  Click on Favorites.
  
• 
  Select Favorites settings.
  
• 
  Click on Import.

  Settings.
• Next, tap or click the Import favorites from another browser option.
• Additional web browser installed on the device will show up in the
  Import favorites list. Select the browsers from which you want to import from and tap or click the
  Import button
