Windows 10: problem with my microphone

my laptop was working perfectly but I was running on HDD I switched to SSD but my microphone stopped working here is the steps i did :1.burned the windows on a flash drive and run it on my laptop and formatted everything,2.installed all the drivers available for my laptop on the DELL website3.found out that the mic. isn't working 4.reinstalled the Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_MMJNT_WIN_6.0.9107.1_A19_02.EXE driver but it didn't work5.I had some problem with running windows so I reinstalled it allover again and the MIC didn't work too6..bought a wired microphone tried it on my phone

Microphone problem Windows (8/10)

To resolve your microphone issue, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Click Windows + S then type Speech Recognition on the search bar.
• Click Set up microphone and follow the Microphone setup wizard.
• When you reach Adjust the microphone volume, please note if the volume bar moves from yellow to red.
• Once the Setup wizard is complete, we can check if the microphone works properly. We can eliminate hardware problem from the possible causes of the issue. Please check to if the issue persists in the Third-party software.

Cortana Microphone headset problems.

Thank you for using Windows 10.

I understand your concern. I suggest you to follow the steps:

• Open settings by clicking thee windows icon the click settings.
• Search Sound in the top right corner and click it.
• Then right click the one device you want to use, then click default communication device.
• Then try Cortana.

As you've already set up microphone but I would suggest you to check again by typing microphone set up and go through that, it should set everything up for you.

Built in microphone not working

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
