Windows 10: Problem with password and windows restore

Hi, I have a problem. Today I turned on my pc and the “critical process died” screen appeared. Restarting it didn’t resolve anything so I looked at advanced options. Every single one of them required the account password, but I didn't remember it so I changed it. Even after changing it capital letters are all right the pc says it’s wrong, but it’s not. I just want to restore my pc without deleting all data. I have downloaded windows 10 on an external usb, and it says I can’t install it on a pc mine that already has it. I don’t want to completely reset the pc and lose everything, have I do

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

You can reset the Admin Password using Windows XP repair; See Here for step by step.

Windows XP PRO error after restore

System restore is handy when it works like it did for me 2 days ago saving the need to reinstall all of my software as well as windows, id suggest using norton Ghost 12 for an excellent system restore feature.
