Windows 10: Problem With Resetting a Local Windows 10 password

I cannot find, remember or reset the local account password or my Windows 10 laptop. I hit the “don’t remember” and follow the steps to create a new password but the new passwords that I just created don’t work! Is there any way to locate and or reset my local password? Alternatively, I have tried converting my local account and local password to A Microsoft Account password… but that doesn’t seem to help … whatever password I enter is incorrect. There has to be a solo to this. Any suggestions.?

Thanks for this information. I reset the lap top but I still don't have an option to set up a new password.

The windows screen still has my name showing.
