  1. Problem with security tab missing - windows 10 home - no gpedit, problem with regedit path

so... i've read countless tutorials and almost got scammed trying to solve this, help would be much apreciated please <3

hardware : acer laptop with windows 10 home and seagate external SSD

context : (im the sole user of the laptop) i'm trying to run a game that i downloaded to my external drive, i get an access denied error, when i go to the properties of my SSD i cannot find the security tab, i have windows home so i cannot use the group policy editor

i found a fix online, i had to go through the registry to the following adress HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

    but i cant find current version ( HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion )

I read somewhere that i can just create the missing path is that true/safe ?

thank you in advance for your help !!!!!!!

gpedit missing from Windows 10 Home

It seems that the Group Policy Editor (gpedit) is missing for Windows 10 Home. If you do WindowsKey+R and enter "gpedit.msc" you get the following message:

What are the steps required to install gpedit on Windows 10 Home? Is there a Microsoft sanctioned download of gpedit from the Microsoft domain?

  3. Windows 10 home path long

The problem is that I am using windows 10 home edition ( pre installed on my laptop ) and I am developing software and using node packages for some projects.

Their paths most probably exceed 260 character limit.

Now how can I enable this feature without gpedit.

OK, gpedit is not available in windows 10 home. But what about log file paths. I have not anywhere that they are not available in windows 10 home edition.

I have applied registry trick but It didn't work.
