Windows 10: Problem with USB wireless adapter connecting to my router on windows 8.1

Hello,I have brought a new USB wireless adapter to connect to the internet on windows 8.1, the issue is that the wireless signal is not very strong up stairs, so I use a WiFi adapter to boost the signal, the issue is that the the USB adapter has problems connecting to the WiFi adapter that boost the signal. the connection is slow to show up on windows 8.1 and when you tap connect is shows the connection for a couple of seconds then it goes then comes back on, then connects but windows 8.1 does not show that you are connected. But you are connected.Any help would be appreciated Thanks

I believe he was asking if he could share a wired connection via a wifi adapter without the need for a router.

The usb wireless adapter will work the same a laptop wireless card.

I've only done it the other way (sharing wireless to wired for my xbox when i lived in dorms.) When i did it I just bridged the connections.

It's a Wireless USB Adapter, not a wireless USB Router, by the way. The Router is what the Wireless USB Adapter connects too. Aside from using a cable, you could also just buy a Wireless USB adapter that works with Windows 10. Why can't you download a driver to a flash drive on another computer and then use it to fix your computer that has the problem?

Follow the methods below and check if it works.

Method 1:

Try these steps and see if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X.
• Click on Device manager.
• Check if the Wi-Fi adapter is disabled.
• Right click on it and click on "Uninstall."
• Exit Device manager, restart your computer.
• Check the issue.

Run the Network Adapter Troubleshooter

The Network Adapter troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check the adapter in the computer for any known issues and provides the details and on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter.

• Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.
• In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.

• Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.
