Windows 10: Problem with Wifi adapater

I have a new wifi adapter. I got the software and the driver installed. Windows sees the device. It is listed in Device Manager. It appears to be working properly. The LED lights are on. But, when I click on the wifi icon on the taskbar and go to use it, it is not available. It will let me use "Wi-fi" or "Wi-fi 2". But the new adapter is "Wi-fi 3" and not showing up.

In the Network and Internet Settings window, I can go to the list of adapters and see my new one listed as Wi-Fi 3. I just can't get it to show up where I can actually use it to connect to my network.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

Wifi and browser problems with windows 10


I'll tell you how I fixed an identical problem on a ASUS laptop that had run perfectly on Windows 7 and ran well on W10 from January until the Anniversary update in early August. I tried everything I found on this forum and two others. Nothing worked. The last thing someone suggested was disabling the adapter and using a WiFi dongle. Problem continued. Nobody suggested changing the wireless network adapter. I bought and installed an Intel 7260 WiFi card and just used the driver which was downloaded on the reboot after the install. All problems solved!!

I must have wasted two months reading and trying everything. Even the manufacturer support inferred I needed a new machine though they sent me a Windows 8.1 driver to try, with the same result.

I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to determine if they white list any cards and see if they have suggestions for a compatible card. They may want you to buy another laptop but if the cards aren't white listed, a simple card swap to one compatible with Windows 10 seems to be the answer.

 

Raspberry Pi Adapater not working on windows 10.

The initial scenario:
I used Microsoft Miracast on my laptop to broadcast my phone to it's display. I planned to do this with my PC, but lack a wireless card. After browsing a windows forum on how to Miracast to see if there was another way I found this page:




After reading this, I then bought the official Raspberry Pi adapter.





The active problem:
Despite the windows website showing me that adapter after following a link from it's Miracast page, I still got the "The device doesn't support Miracast." message.
I later found, that the device is either not being detected, or lacks drivers. As I did not find "Official Raspberry PI adapter" on my device list, but did find this:



I looked around for windows 10 drivers, and all I heard when reading through old posts was "Can't be done"

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.
