Windows 10: Problem with Windows password in troubleshoot in attempt to solve windows update issue

I have black screen after Windows 10 upgrade. I can get into troubleshoot but my Windows password is not being accepted in order to uninstall updates or carry out system restore etc. How do I move forward?

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

Windows Update keeps failing!

Hi,

I had once a similar issue like yours, i.e. not able to update Windows 7. What I did to solve the problems is:

- go to control panel, then to "Troubleshouting" > "System and Security" > "Fix problems with Windows update" > click "Advanced" > choose "Apply repairs automatically".

And Windows will start detecting the issues and will repair "Windows update components". The problems should be fixed now, close the program, restart the PC, and see if the mentioned steps have fixed the problems you mentioned.

Windows Update Troubleshooter - Doesn't solve issues


This all started after a crash during the night while i was sleeping (never found it or the reason because my memory dump wasn't storing anything due to pagefile being less than memory). But during my search I ran the troubleshooter for WU and it came up with issues; but it doesn't seem to be doing anything for said issues.

As you can see from the snips, its suggests a few things but it doesn't seem to fix these issues permanently, nor all of them listed. I can keep running the troubleshooter and get the same results every time. Only once did it claim to fix everything after I restarted a ton of services (bits, MSI installer, WU service, cryptsvc, wuauserv, appidsv). I tried using this article base but only got to mshtml.dll when it said that i couldnt that command.

So I can't figure out what to do or if its just some hiccup that's always gonna say I have updates and corruptions. I am running the latest build, 1703, but can't figure out if I really have updates waiting or if I'm truely uptodate.
