Windows 10: Problem with Windows Startup leads to Bad System Config Info error

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64bit on a Lenovo T430 Thinkpad PC.

Is there any way to attack this problem or a way to use the booted install media to allow me to port some files to flash drives before a do a full format of my PC's hard drive and start from scratch. I need to migrate or delete about 10Gb to have enough room for the install.


Background:
I've tried everything to get around this issue, but am unable to get into either Windows 10 or safe mode.. It started by getting as far as the "picture" being displayed at startup. WiFi does enable in the background, as indicated by the wifi icon in lower right of the screen. From there, I never get a windows login screen or even a cursor to enter my user name and password. This pc has a finger print reader for security, but I've never enabled that.

I ran diagnostics on memory and storage, and they passed.


On another PC, I created a Windows 10 Installation Media on a USB flash drive, and proceeded as described below.

I've run "repair my pc" by forced booting using a bootable Windows 10 installation media on a USB drive, but auto repair eventually it fails startup and gives me the "Bad System Config Info" message and a QR code with basically directs me to www.windows.com/stopcode.

I've tried restore from a prior config, but no restore point is available.

I run a reset of the pc, that also fails with "Bad System Config Info"

I end up running thru loops that land me at the same bad ending.



I booted USB media drive again and have poked around with the command prompt from the trouble shooter's advanced options. I can verify my data is there, but not much else. Based on some trouble shooting hints, I tried using the bootrec command repair to the master boot record and BCD file, to no avail.


Finally, I've considered running an Install using my bootable USB Windows 10 installation media, but I don't have enough space on any partition on my PC to enable the install without having to dump some files. Frankly, I've not too versed in using command prompt commands. Haven't used them for about 20 years. I used the cd and dir commands to poke around, but not much more.


Is there any way to get the Windows install system running after boot drive x:\ on my PC using the trouble shooter command prompt to recognize another USB drive attached to the PC? And commands to use with the command prompt to move/delete the necessary files to make space?


Any ideas would be appreciated.

The error Bad System Config means that something is wrong with the registry on your PC and you'll need to return to a previous configuration. It would be great, if you can help us with the details requested below:

• When do you get the error message?
  
• Does the computer boot to the Desktop?
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?
  
• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
  

I would suggest you to refer the steps mentioned in the article
Error 0x74: Bad_system_config_info and see if that helps.



Note: The last step in the above article talks about performing a reset on the computer. Resetting the computer will delete all the files and applications from the computer. Do not perform reset on your computer.

Bad system config info and failure to launch windows 10

Windows 10 on a Dell XPS about 1.5 yrs old

turned machine on and got the Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart; bad system config info.

Went through the multiple suggestions to fix, repair or restore but none of them were successful. Seemed to get a consistent response that a problem was encountered and therefore no the problem couldn’t be resolved.

Under troubleshoot attempted the prompt command option. The message under the Microsoft Windows [version 10.0.17134.1] said not enough resources available to process this command.

I found a video on youtube to address the bad system config info issue and followed the steps as presented.

After going through that process my system still won’t boot up.

there apprared to be enough free space on C.
