Windows 10: Problem within Windows Explorer Help

From my previous question that hasn't been answered, I made some observations these past months when the problem still persists and I've done my best to ignore them. And now it's starting to affect some windows programs like the Photo App, Windows Store, Calendar, Maps and Mails. These apps can't be opened and seemed to close within a second after running it. Also Running a program with administration privilege seemed to 'freeze' explorer.exe for at least a minute. If touched or clicked, it would freeze for the entire duration until I restart it using the task manager.


Although opening folders seemed normal, refreshing would freeze explorer for 30 seconds.


Another from my observations, is that creating a folder, text etc. in a specific location seemed to work normally. But in some locations, it wouldn't be made in an instant thus initiating that freezing explorer jig for 30 seconds.


I've been having this problem since May, And I would appreciate all of your support, time and willingness to help me in this situation.


On a side note, this maybe off topic but I would like to ask...

My C:/ Drive's Free Storage Space seemed ticking on and off. It was suppose to be at 30GB Free. Updates soon brought it down to 25. And then all of a sudden the Drive started going down up to 7GB, I don't recall installing updates the previous day. And then all of a sudden, taken some time it would rise up back to 16GB.


In my present situation, the Free Space inside the drive is now at 5GB, the lowest point I have yet.


Anyways, Thank you for those who took the time to read this. I hope I could get a solution soon and fix this problem.

Windows Explorer crashes and thumbnails problem

Hi, I hope you can help me.
Windows Explorer is no longer showing thumbnails on files played by Windows Media Player. I've run cmd and regsvr32 shmedia.dll and regsvr32 shimgvw.dll. That seemed to solve the problem...but it created a different one. Now when I try to open a folder on an external hard drive it crashes. I read in an old 2008 post it was an avi file causing the problem and suggested the run cmd regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll. That solved the opening problem but recreated the thumbnail problem. Any help to achieve both functions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

 

Windows Explorer Replacement?

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
