Windows 10: Problematic WindowsApps Folder

Okey, here is the thing.

- I am a user who regularly uses gamepass. From Windows Store.***

- And games downloaded from gamepass are installed in the Windowsapps folder.

- Windowsapps folder is protected with ultra high security.

- I have noticed that I do not have the right to access this folder even though on my device that I am the only authorized person and dont not have any user.

- Although it is ridiculous, I took the ownership of the folder. Hmm, I am the owner of the computer and I installed the OS. I paid for the license. I paid for store sub. But somehow I can't acces that folder because I need permission. Weird.

- Anyway, Finally I managed to view the files inside the folder. Oh, "read" must be the correct word.

- When I look at the security features of the windowsapps folder, it seems that I have given full control, although it is not safe at all, I have given this authority to "all" options.

- However, no such privilege is applied to the folders in this folder. It seems that I still need administrator privileges to be able to delete something, to change something.


If I'm not the admin, who? Why do I need so much bureaucracy to mod a simple game?




Of course I tried 3rd party software to access the files in this folder. However, almost all of them failed. Hopefully we can see your goal of securing this

folder in antivirus systems as well.


I still need full access, How am I going to take whole, I mean WHOLE ownership of that folder.

WindowsApps folder says permissions are corrupted and need to be deleted, is this normal or critical?

According to your description, I suggest you try the following steps:

1. Navigate to the location C:\Program Files.
   
2. Right-click on the WindowsApps folder, and select Properties.
   
3. Turn to Security tab and click on Advanced.
   
4. Click on Change and then type Users in Enter the object name to select area.
   
5. Click on OK, then click Apply > OK. You can also add the TrustedInstaller to the users list and check if it takes effect.
   

However, you might be still not able to access the files. The workaround is to go inside the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\, and repeat the same way with the Microsoft.WindowsStore* folders.
