    Hello,
    I wonder if anyone here facing the same problems as I do after the last update on Feb 9th 2016.
    My Windows version 10.0.10586

    1. Took a long time to open apps after clicking its icon/shortcuts from the system tray
    2. Can not open Settings > Update & Security --> it's never opened even after i waited for few hours.
    3. Took a long time to attach files when you want to send an email...

    Any idea what cause them?
    I don't have a proper backup before the last update, so can not go back to the previous state.
    i don't know how to redo the last update installation, because of problem #2... (via command prompt,is it possible?) and i don't know if it will help too...

    Please kindly help.

    Windows 10 email

    My Windows 10 mail also does not work at all since the system updates on Feb 9, 2016.

    Should I uninstall and reinstall the app?

  3. laptop is listed with windows 10 pro in microsoft account whether its running with windows 8.1 pro


    • I purchased my Compaq 510 laptop in the year of 2009, May. Preinstalled with windows7 ultimate

    • Windows 10 preview was installed in June, 2015 (first week)
    3a. I did the clean install of win8 pro exactly on 14/02/2016. Installation disc I got as a gift from my parent means it has been purchased legally.

    3b. I did the format of hard drive during installation of win8 pro

    4win8.1 offered via windows store by exact date 16/02/2016 and installed by next day 17/02/2016

    5. KB3123862- 17th FEB,2016, KB3135449-17th FEB,2016, KB3035583- 17th FEB,2016

    6. yes, KB3035583 is listed in installed updates but the “get windows 10” app icon not present in notification area.

    7. definition versions are currently displayed in defenders update tab- definition created on 20-Feb-16 at 9;38 AM, Definition last updated: 20-Feb-16 at 6:45PM, Virus definition version- 1.213.6725.0, spyware definition version: 1.213.6725.0

    8a. IE11’s update version is KB3134814

    8b. no other alternate version installed here

    9. yes Adobe Flash Player v20,0,0,306 is installed

    1o. no I don’t have habit of using registry cleaners

    *Smile Hello and welcome!

    I know a few people have been getting problems after the update but they all seem to show slightly different symptoms. It looks like your system is searching a long time for files. Can you get to the Control Panel and open the Troubleshooter page? Select View all and run one or two of the built in troubleshooters. I would suggest the "Search and Indexing" and the "Windows Update".

    I think this is quite a risky strategy to suggest and I just point out that the update is not yet available through the official Windows Update route.

    Can I ask how you know that this "fixes a lot of the problems the other updates have been causing"? There is no evidence for this that I can find.

  7. If you see all the other updates listed it is replaces 2 of the updates that have been causing a lot of members problems
    One being the 9th Feb one.
    Also they have marked it as critical update.
    I have seen some improvement over all
    Faster start up
    Also why they are doing manual download is because a lot of member have been having trouble with W U by some updates installing 4, 5 times.
    If the OP does a backup before installing this latest one if it does not help then he can always roll back

    Advise you to follow philc43 suggestion.
    If that does not solve, run a system file check to look for corrupt files. It will try to do repair if anything found.
    Right click at Start button > click Command Prompt (Admin) > at the flashing prompt, copy/paste this.......
    sfc /scannow

    > press Enter.
    It will take quite sometime.
    When finished, it will give you one of the 3 reports...............(paraphrasing)
    1. No integrity violation.
    2. Found corrupt files and repair successful.
    3. Found corrupt files but unable to repair.

    If the report is #1, your solution lies elsewhere.
    If the report is #2, check if your problems have been resolved.
    If the report is #3, use this method................
    In the same Command Prompt (Admin) windows, copy and paste this command...........

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    > press Enter.
    Again it will take some time.
    When finished, it will give you a report.

    i got number 3 from the sfc /scannow and now doing the restorehealth...
    hopefully it will be solved...

    You might get an error message " sources file could not be found ".
    Don't panic.
    There is way to resolve that.

    If you read the report, you should see an error code and under that there is a message, " The source files could not be found ".

    To solve this, use this method.............

    Use this Tech Bench link to download the iso file.
    ( editing.... adding the link that I forgot)

    Make sure you select......................
    Edition : Windows 10 ( the first one on the list )
    Language : the same language your computer is using.
    Bit version : same bit version ( 32 or 64) your computer is running.

    Once the iso file is downloaded > go to the location (folder) where the iso file is > right click at it > click Mount > leave it there.
    Now open the elevated command prompt:
    right click at the Start button > click Command Prompt (Admin) > at the flashing prompt, copy and past this command line ( copy and paste is to avoid typo)..............................

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:H:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

    Note : H is the drive where the iso is mounted. Change it if your driver letter is different.

    When it is completed, you should get the report that the operation is successful.
    Now run the sfc /scannow again. It should be ok this time.
