Windows 10: Problems connecting Sony my WH-1000XM4's headset to my windows 11 pc by Bluetooth

Hey,I’ve tried several ways of connecting my Sony WH-1000XM4 headset to my Windows 11 PC version 23h2 so 22631.4602 via Bluetooth, but the PC doesn’t recognize it in the list of available Bluetooth devices. Other devices connect without any issues.Could you help me with this?

I have the same problem with Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones with my Windows 11 PC. It was working all fine and suddenly stopped working.

The device connects via bluetooth and is detected by the PC, the sound is coming fine, but its not enabling the microphone.

1. Checked all microphone settings to ensure those are enabled.
   
2. The headphone works fine on other devices - so no problem with the headphone itself
   
3. I have already reset the headphone and paired from scratch - still the problem is not resolved
   
4. Updated all the drivers - still the problem is not resolved.
   
5. I tested a different bluetooth headphones with the PC and it works fine.
   

So the problem is specific to Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones with Windows 11 PC and it started happening after an update around late April.

 

Bluetooth Audio Output/Input for Sony WH-1000XM4 Not Working

I have been using my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones with my Windows 11 PC for more than 100 days with no issues. Recently, the device stopped being recognized by my system as an input-output device. It connects over Bluetooth, videos pause when I take my headphones off as they used to when playback was not an issue. But the audio output continues to happen through the device speakers.

I have tried to select the device as default from the Advanced Sound Settings, but it is not even on the list of devices under the "Playback" tab. Bluetooth audio with another headset works perfectly, and my headset continues to work perfectly with my Android phone. I have tried driver updates and anything common found on the internet but with no luck. The device just never appears on the input nor output device list, and in the Bluetooth tab, the entry has "Connected" under it rather than "Connected voice, music".

The PC bluetooth functions well with any other device (even audio I/O devices), so I do not think it is a bluetooth issue although I might be mistaken. And as I said, I used the same device combination without any issues for at least 100 days before the inexplicable problem surfaced.

Any ideas of what to try next? Thanks for your help already.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version? You can check it by pressing the Win key + R key, and typing "winver", then press Enter, please take a screenshot/photo of it, and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

If possible, please do the following tests to further confirm whether it's the problem of the system itself or the problem of the Bluetooth headset.

• Connect your current Bluetooth headsetto another computer and see if it works.
  
• Connect a different Bluetooth headset to the current computer to see if it works.
  

Have you ever disable the Bluetooth headset? If so, you may enable it as an output device. Win + Q to open the search box, type "mmsys.cpl" and press Enter to open the "Sound" interface > Playback tab, right-click on the blank space and tick "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices", then "OK" to save the settings. If the headset has been disabled, right-click on the device > Enable.
