Windows 10: Problems downloading emails received in Yahoo into Windows Mail

I have a Windows 11 laptop and use the Windows Mail app. Within Mail I have linked several email accounts, one of which is my Yahoo account. All my email accounts work fine within Mail, except for my Yahoo account. Approx. 50% of the time, the message is not downloaded from Yahoo. A link appears that reads "Download message and pictures" but clicking this link does not work. In order to read these messages I need to open the URL for Yahoo mail and then log into my account. I've attached a screenshot. Any ideas how to resolve this issue? Thank you for your time, Steen

Yahoo account won't receive mail


I've started using Mail app in Wndows 10 on a trial basis, on my desktop PC.

I've added my Yahoo mail account and can send emails but cannot receive them.

I tried using a solution offered in a post on another thread, by logging into my Yahoo account, and going to security to add a specific password for my account for apps, but cannot find any option to do this.

The only option it offers is to use/disable less secure options.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update: Mail started being received 30 minutes after I had sent it from another email client.

Gripes about Mail app:

• Emails can't be saved to desktop
• Font defaults can't be set size and text chosen, eg Arial

The first answer you will receive here is that due to security issues many have chosen another email provider besides Yahoo. However, I have 2 Yahoo accts and have not encountered problems.

Does the issue only occur when typing emails ? Is there any problems when you type website addresses ?

- When using IE to access Yahoo and problems occur, refresh the page in hopes to eliminate buffering/stalling.

- Clear IE cache. (Internet Options/Delete)

- Using Edge browser, type yahoo.com in the address bar. Access your email by clicking on Mail at the top of the page.

- Also, after you click on Mail at the top of page, put your cursor on the Y at top of page and left click. You may then drag the Y to your taskbar for quick access to mail.

- You may want to download Firefox or Chrome to see if any difference.

Let us know if there is a difference.

 

Can't access Yahoo and Yahoo email

I'm going to suggest that you need to fine a replacement email service. Once, maybe 10+ years ago, Yahoo was a well run and good website. But no longer. Yahoo mail today is completely overrun with spam and it's now extremely difficult (for me at least) just to log into Yahoo mail. I should add that I use Yahoo as a secondary email service, but I'm now planning to find a different service. Even though I can now get direct downloads into my desktop Outlook mail client for free, it's not worth the hassles and the trouble.
