Windows 10: Problems Installing Update 1906 or 1909

I have been trying to update my desktop computer from version 1803 to a newer version. I tried 1906 when it was available, it failed and now trying 1909 and it is failing the same way. It goes through the install, rebooting multiple times but when all done, it gives me a login screen, which is accepted but then either goes to a black screen saying updating preferences or else gives me my background screen with no desktop shortcuts and then it just seems to go to computer la la land from there. It does not allow you to click and bring up any screens, no command line entries. Just trying to bring up task manager and it just appears to be busy but yet no hard drive activity showing as far as the lights go. Does not seem to take any key clicks. I can hit the power button which it does recognize and shut down but that seems to be about my only option.


I have removed as much extra hardware from my computer as I just about can, DVD, Bluray, large hard disk for storage. I have tried my wireless internet connection, now I am connected to my wired network, same issues. I have uninstalled the anti-virus.


All together, I have tried this 6 times and it has failed 6 times. I assume a driver issues but with no error messages, I don't know where to look. I have tried safe mode, with and without network, then basic video. As this is not failing during bootup or at least I am assuming so since it gives me a login prompt, I didn't try logging.


I did a scan of drivers but I am not seeing anything there but like I know what to look for in that report.


At this point, the only option I can think of is to copy all the important stuff off and try to build a fresh install but given there seems to be a problem, I might have the same issue doing that.


Thank goodness I can remove the updates and go back to a working version of Windows 10. Any help would be appreciated.

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

 

1906 update

Version 1903 is the current public version.

There is no 1906.

I'm just following the other lemons I guess. Give me the God account please, I can't figure out what to update next.
