Problems reinstalling Realtek HD Audio following uninstall

So, I did a major f*ck up last night. I had always been experiencing issues with my audio not being as loud as it used to. When going through the sound properties, I would get a message saying that Realtek Audio was causing issues with Windows and it was disabled. They would ask me if I wanted it reenabled. I said yes once, but that was a mistake. I was able to go back to how it was.

I left it alone until last night. I noticed my driver wasn't updated. It was on the same driver for months. So, being the idiot I am, I uninstalled it and I would update it by downloading the newest one from Realtek's website. Wrong. I got an error from the software.

I tried other ways of reinstalling the damn thing, but I always get errors. I tried a system restore but I kept getting the error that a particular file couldn't be retrieved from the restore point. When I looked at the file in question, it doesn't exist currently and the folder in which the file was in was last updated, or touch if you will, was in early August. None of my restore points go that back. My oldest one is late September. I kept getting this error even in Safe Mode (based on a tutorial I saw).

I tried installing the cab file from Microsoft, and I can't get it to work either. I always get errors. Sfc doesn't help. It stops at 63% and three corrupt files can't be repaired and some other errors. I also tried via Windows Update, but I always get this:

Windows update troubleshooter was unhelpful. There was one fix they suggest, but that would mean uninstalling all of my updates and reinstalling them. I am not sure how effective this is.
If anyone would be willing to help, that'd be great.

    I have a Dell Inspiron 5558 64-bit running Windows 10 Home Version 1607 OS Build 14393.1770.

    Thank you.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Sound Level Too Low

    I fixed my problem.

    Uninstalled VIA HD Audio Driver

    Installed Realtek Audio Driver

    Rebooted.

    Presto. Got surround sound back.

VIA HD not compatible with Win 10. Realtek is the answer!

    Cheers

Problems reinstalling Realtek HD Audio following uninstall

I can't edit my initial post.

I tried using a tutorial on Youtube by adding a hardware through device manager and I get this error: Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check).

Not sure how to approach this issue.

UPDATE: I was successful enough to restore my audio thanks to a tutorial by Driver Easy. However, I am still unable to install Realtek.

Hi, I am still experiencing issues. If anybody can help, don't hesitate.

I have heard of people who experienced system restore issues (being unable to extract a file from the restore point) were able to fix it following an update from Windows Update. I'm waiting for tomorrow.

My last option is to reinstall my Windows.
