  1. Problems resetting Windows

    Hi,

I started having problems when my computer tried updating but kept failing and restarting (this was a while ago and I've forgotten the exact issue). Not sure if this is linked but I suspect so, I was away for a few weeks and I'm not sure when this started. Looking at settings it says 2019-04 cumulative update for windows 10 version 1803 for x64-based systems (KB4493464) -Error 0x80073712 - some update files are missing or have problems

Now when I open nearly every program the screen goes blank for a second and nothing happens. For some reason Edge works but not Chrome (unless I switch tabs around which crashes it?), Windows Media Player but not VLC. Apologies for Edge not being my default choice!

I have everything backed up and want a fresh start anyway so I tried resetting windows both with reset in settings and booting from my original Windows 10 USB but it fails with both.

I just tried reset again to find the exact error and now it just crashes to desktop instead so I got this from the USB, it says: windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure that all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570

Any easy way round this? I'm tempted to try formatting the drive but I've no idea what I'm doing and don't want to end up without even internet access.

    Thanks for your help!

    :)

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
    a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
    b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.
