Windows 10: Problems switching from Ubuntu to Windows 11

Hi,I have an older Dell Desktop loaded with Ubuntu and would like to switch the OS to Windows 11 and no longer have Ubuntu. I downloaded the Win 11 ISO file from the Microsoft website and copied the file to a USB using the RUFUS utility. When I put the USB into the Ubuntu Desktop, I got a message stating the following:This drive was created by RUFUS [https://rufus.ie].It can boot in UEFI mode only but you are trying to boot it in BIOS/Legacy mode. This Will Not Work!If this computer supports UEFI, go to your UEFI settings and lower or disable the priority of CSM/Legacy mode.I am not sure how t

Networking problem between Windows and Ubuntu

Went on a short trip, took my Windows 10 laptop, turned off the Ubuntu computer and my wife's Windows 10 computer. When I returned, I turned everything back on and nether Windows computer could see the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS computer. On the Ubuntu computer,
Files/Network clicking on Windows Network received "Unable to access location - Failed to retrieve share list from server: No such file or directory" error. Both Windows computers were able to use the Ubuntu before the trip.

Any suggestions?

 

Can't reinstall Windows 11 on ASUS Zenbook after installing Ubuntu

I recently did a clean install of Ubuntu 22.04.3 onto my new ASUS Zenbook (Q420V) which erased Windows 11. I later realized that I needed to reinstall Windows 11, so I created a boot disk using the Windows Media Creation tool and was able to get thru the first few steps in setup until getting stuck at "Custom: Install Windows only" as there were no drives listed to install Windows. I'm not sure if installing Ubuntu changed some configurations on my laptop but I've tried disabling Secure boot and Fast boot, creating a win 10 boot disk, reinstalling Ubuntu, creating a partition of my SSD in FAT32, repairing the boot of the computer (Boot Repair) and nothing has worked. Please help. Thank you.

 

Help with dual booting Win 10 and Ubuntu

This is your whole problem. What you should have done is to put GRUB in sdb1 and Windows Manager in sda1 so that Windows Boot Manager is in control.
So what suggested above will not make any difference. GRUB is still in control of booting process.
To fix your problem. You will need to:

1. Move GRUB from sdb to sdb1
   |grub2 - how to move grub boot from one partition to another in linux - Ask Ubuntu
2. Rebuild The Windows Boot Manager ie. create a brand new BCD to boot Windows 10.
3. Once done with steps 1 and 2 above. Windows will not know UBUNTU exists and vice versa.
   Depend on the priority set in the BIOS, it will boot directly into that OS.
   However, you can boot either one from Boot Menu (Using whatever key that your Laptop assigned to: F2, F10....)
   Since I hate Dual Boot and seldom boot into Linux, I will stop here.
   Now, go to step 4 to create dual boot.
4. Use Easy BCD to create an entry for dual boot with UBUNTU. Once done, you should get a nice GUI dual Boot Menu
   and it will boot directly into either Windows or UBUNTU.
