Windows 10: Problems with administrator status after switching from windows 11 home S mode

I switched out from windows 11 home S mode. It went OK, but now I had to perform an administrator level task disabling core integration and I could not. I am the only user of the computer, and the account info says I am administrator. Still, the disable button is inactive and says that only the administrator can do this.

Error: Check with your IT or System administrator when trying to switch out of S mode

However, please let us know:

• How are you trying to switch out of S mode?
  
• Are you using a University/School account to login to the computer?
  
• Where do you see the error "Check with your IT or system administrator."?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.

If you are using a University/School account to login to the computer, I would suggest you to create a new user account, login to Store using your personal Microsoft account and try switching out of S mode. Refer the article

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.





If you face any issues, I suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below:



Reset Windows Store Cache:



Try resetting the Store and see if that helps.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run’.
   
2. In Run dialog box, type ‘wsreset.exe’ and hit
   Enter.
   

Note: A blank Command Prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds, the window will close and Microsoft Store will open automatically.



Re-register Store:



Run the PowerShell command to re-register store.

1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on
   Windows PowerShell (Admin).
   
2. Now type in the command and hit Enter:
   Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\\AppXManifest.xml”}
   
3. Restart the PC.

Airplane mode switch not working

Since the troubleshooting steps that were provided did not resolve the issue, we suggest switching on the Radio Management Service. To do that, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R.
• Type services.msc, then hit Enter.
• Search for Radio Management Service.
  
• Right-click, then choose Start.

Note: Never ever set this service to "Disabled".

Get back to us if the steps won't work.

 

Unable to switch out of S mode

I understand that you are trying to switch out of S mode however, you are unable to switch out of it. We will look into this for you.



Please reply with the following details to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps:

• Do you receive any error code/message?
  
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
  

You can try resetting the Microsoft Store cache: Press the Windows Logo Key + R to open the
Run dialog box, type wsreset.exe, and then select OK.




You can also try signing out of store and signing in back. If the issue persists, please create a new user account and then try switching out of S mode. Please follow the steps

10 to create a new user account.
