    Problems with computer shutting down.


    Hello, I have recently over the summer purchased a new computer non-refurbished, and recently I have been having this recurring issue with it shutting down completely while using different applications. At first it was happening in a pattern when I was using a certain application and now its happening more often while using different applications. I also believe it has to do with event 10016, and I believe this because when I checked the event viewer every time my computer shut down event 10016 was logged in the event viewer down to the second it happened. I have an Asus computer and i called

    Need some advice on computer problems.

    Run HDtune (free version) on you hard drive. but most likely that the problem. You can also test your memory with Memtest86 as suggested above

    OK, first complete your system specs, as it will help us diagnose your problem. Second, can you be a bit more descriptive about the "shut off"? Does it go through the windows shut down procedure, or does the power just shut off completely?
