Windows 10: Problems with external mic

Hi,I use a Dell G3. There is an in built microphone at the top of the screen right beside the camera. However, when i try to plug in a Samsung earpiece, i can only hear the audio from the earpiece. I am unable to use to microphone from the earpiece. I have tried to check "Device manager" etc. but i cant seem to find any external mic. There is a "Microphone RealtekR Audio" and a "Stereo Mix RealtekR Audio". The "Microphone RealtekR Audio" seems to be the inbuilt mic as it shows increased levels when i test the mic. The "Stereo Mix RealtekR Audio" however, does not show anything.

The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

My external mic is not working. Pls Help !!!!!

Hey Guys, My External Mic is not working. My Headphone sound is working but my mic is not working, pls give your suggestions. Thanks.
