  1. Problems with keyboard

Some time ago, after one of updates (hard to say which, because the problem doesn't manifest itself immediately), I've noticed that some functionality of my keyboard went south. After every reboot, everything works perfectly. Then, a few days later, Ctrl behaves strangely: when I do Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C, second time Ctrl doesn't work and I just kind of type "c", as if I don't hold Ctrl anymore. To really copy I need to do Ctrl+A, then I have to release Ctrl, then to press Ctrl with C. I cannot just hold Ctrl and then do "a" and then "c".

A day later, some Ctrl + ? functions are lost, for example ctrl+A, ctrl+F won't work anymore. A day of two after that ctrl+L won't work anymore and so it degrades day after day until the next reboot. After reboot it works perfectly for a day and this scenario repeats itself again over a week, until the next reboot.

It's hard to say which update introduced this behaviour, when I try to roll back some of updates, I need to reboot anyway and then everything works fine, but it works fine after every reboot anyway, so it's hard to say which update did this. and during the day Windows frightens me with "you should install this update, your PC is vulnerable now!!!" and of course I update it back.

So anyway, I have no idea what can it be and how to fix this. I thought maybe there is something wrong my hardware, but again, it works perfectly after reboot, if my keyboard had had some hardware issues, it would have manifested the malfunction after reboot.

My PC is Dell XPS 13 9360.

Did anyone encounter such a problem? Thank you.

    :)

  2. Keyboard problem in Windows 10

    Hi David,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to check if the issue persists when you connect another keyboard to your system.

If the issue is with the keyboard, then suggest you to update the keyboard drivers by following the steps below.

    • Press Windows key + X and select
      Device Manager
      from the list.

    • Expand ‘Keyboard’ from the list.

    • Right click on the driver and select ‘update driver software’ and follow the prompts.

    Hope the information is helpful.

  3. Keyboard letters problem

Here are the first two steps you need to take:

    • Try a different keyboard (or an external USB keyboard in case of a laptop)
    • See if the problem persists with the on-screen keyboard (osk.exe)

    Problems with keyboard

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
    a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
    b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.
