Windows 10: Problems with my Computer

Hi. I hope this is the right forum for my questions, but I think it is. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 about a month ago and am having some problems. The first is with updating it. I have gone into the settings/update and security/Windows Update, and my computer says it's downloading updates, but it's stuck at 0% and has been for the last two weeks. I downloaded a tool from Microsoft called WindowsUpdateDiagnostic that is supposed to fix problems with Windows Update, but when I run it, it tells me that the "service registration is missing or corrupt." I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
The second problem is with installing certain software that I had installed at one point when my computer was running Windows 8.1 and later uninstalled. I want to reinstall them, but I get various errors when I try. One program, which few people have probably heard of because it's for the blind, tells me that there is something wrong with a DLL. Another, Adobe Acrobat DC, tells me that there is a newer version already installed when I know there is not. It also gives me the error code 1722. The full error message is ""Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: InstallWebResources, location: ...\RdrServicesUpdat..." Any suggestions? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

Nokia phone download problem

Hi all, I have just acquired a Nokia Lumia 625, and am trying to download Skype from the Microsoft shop. Two things happen -- either Microsoft does not recognise the password for my newly acquired account (although it does accept it when I access it from
my PC), or I get an error code message, 8009030e. Very frustrating... Thanks for any help!

 

start menu stopped working

Cannot get start menu to pop up. Worked till yesterday, now won't. Turned off computer and back on - still won't work

 

Did you run Fixit right from IE or Edge browser or download it first ?

Check these services are running with following steps.

a. Press Windows key + R, type "services.msc" (without quotes) in start run box and press Enter.

b. Locate Windows Update service.

c. Right click on the Windows Update service and select Properties.

d.Click Start under Service status.

e. Click OK.

f. Repeat the steps c to f for the following services also or make sure they are running:

Background Intelligent Transfer Service & Cryptographic Service.

Try also using these commands both several times with a reboot after

At (admin) command Prompt, copy and paste this and press enter, let it finish

sfc /scannow

Same open command prompt, do same for this, copy and paste, press enter let it finish

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
