Windows 10: Problems with old SMB and SSL protocols since Windows 10 Pro 22H2

Hello!I have several old VB applications that connect via OLEDB to an old MS SQL Server 2000 that is not accessible for an upgrade to me.On versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11 I solved this connectivity problem enabling in "Turn Windows Features ON or OFF" SMB 1.0, SMB1.1 and SMB 1.2 and by merging the following reg file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\SSL 2.0] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSe

SMB copy limited to 700mbit after 22H2 update

Same problem with Windows 11 Pro for Workstation ver 22h2, speed limit via smb with synology nas

I followed Option 1 with the following exceptions:

• Windows 7 Pro: SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, Automatic Removal, Client and Server and SMB Direct are not options.
• Windows 10 Home: SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, Automatic Removal, Client and Server are checked and SMB Direct is not an option.
• Note: Windows 10 Pro: SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, Automatic Removal, Client and Server and SMB Direct are checked.

Clearly the problem is sharing with Windows 10 Pro...

• Windows 10 Pro can reach files and folders on Windows 7 Pro
• Windows 10 Pro cannot reach files and folders on Windows 10 Home; Message: Windows cannot access...
• Windows 10 Home cannot reach files and folders on Windows 10 Pro; Message: Enter your credentials
• Windows 7 Pro cannot reach files and folders on Windows 10 Pro; Message: Enter your password

Sharing Between Windows 10 Home and Windows 7 Pro

• Windows 10 Home can reach files and folders on Windows 7 Pro
• Windows 7 Pro can reach files and folders on Windows 10 Home

Any thoughts on what I should do?

I with much help, I solve my networking problem!

The first step was to follow Option 1 and Option 2 from the first post of this thread/tutorial.

The second step was to create a new password-protected local (user) account with administrator privileges and without using an email or phone number when creating the new user account on the Windows 10 Pro machine.

The third step was to create a new password-protected user account with administrator privileges on the Windows 7 Pro machine with the exact same username and password as the new local account on the Windows 10 Pro machine.

When I attempted to share/access a file on the Windows 10 Pro machine from the Windows 7 Pro machine, I simply entered the new username and password from above when asked for my network credentials and puff, it worked.

A similar process was followed for networking the Windows 10 Pro and Home machines.

Yes, third party applications can block port #443 which is a port number for the secure version of Hypertext Transfer Protocol (http) used to access web pages. I would suggest you uninstall Malwarebytes as you already have Avast
security and Windows defender which comes with Windows 10 to keep your computer safe.

If you are still not able to access the secure (https) websites, then follow the steps mentioned below:

Method 1: Check if SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are enabled

1. Open Internet explorer (IE) and then click on tools menu.
2. Then go to Internet option.
3. Then go to Advance tab and click make sure Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0 are checked.
   
4. Click on apply and then OK.

Method 2: Check the secure sockets layers (SSL) slate.

1. Open Internet explorer (IE) and then click on tools menu.
2. Then go to Internet option.
3. Then go to Content tab and click on Clear SSL State.
4. Click on Apply and then OK.

Method 3: Reset Security settings under trusted sites zones in internet explorer.

1. Open Internet Explorer (IE) and then click on tools menu.
2. Then go to Internet Options.
3. Go to Security tab and click on trusted sites. Then click on reset all zones to default level.
