Windows 10: problems with one drive. I restored a directory called Pictures all folders and sub...

1. My Pictures Folder was was corrupted by a one drive file that I copied to Pictures to save it incase one drive had more problems. 2. I kept getting the error about the one drive file and it wouldn't open the folder pictures so I deleted the directory entry called C pictures. 3. when I went into the folders properties I saw a one drive name see screen printso I clicked to replace the previous folder. it restored my picture directory and all he folders and sub folders as you can see from the screenprint BUT it replaced folders only see screenprint. None of the file ie jpg or doc or

Correct Directory Location For Pictures Folder

"Now Documents, Videos etc say file location is This PC. But Pictures file location is C:\Users\PeteyBoPetey\Pictures."

If we understand you correctly, the issue is that Pictures doesn't appear in the left panel under This PC. The correct location IS C:\Users\PeteyBoPetey\Pictures. This is only an issue of using Step 8 in the tutorial to add it back to the list. See if this screenshot is what you want to achieve- put Pictures folder back in list on L.

 

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

Can not Restore Default location of picture folder "Failed to build the list of known sub-directories"

Hi there,

I am currently trying to change the location of my pictures folder to the default folder since I do not want it on my onedrive, but when I click on "Move" on the folder's properties, it comes up with the error of "Failed to build the list of known sub-directories". This still shows up when I click "Restore Default"





I have tried:

• Giving me full permission on the onedrive folder
  
• Taking ownership of the folder
  
• Running SFC Scannow
  

I have even tried changing the key in regedit yet it still forces my picture folder into the onedrive folder.





I am running Windows 10 21H2 Build 19044.1889
