Windows 10: Problems with Screenshots and my Screenshots folder

I have 2 issues. First, my screenshots are being deleted on their own. They are not found after some time. The only thing I have changed is that I removed my Samsung account from my OneDrive account so that I would be able to control what photos are backed up from my phone. Second, my screenshot folder was still working until just a few minutes ago. I am now getting an error. There is a screenshots folder within the pictures folder that is in the OneDrive folder. I am getting this error by selecting the screenshots folder that I have always used. What is going on with my computer? I am attachi

I'm very sorry to hear about the issue of your missing screenshots folder. One thing I'd like to confirm with you is, if you take a screenshot again, will the screenshots folder reappear?

To take a screenshot on your Surface Pro 4, follow these steps:

1. Full-screen screenshot: Press the Power button and the Volume Up button simultaneously. This will take a screenshot of your entire screen and save it to the Screenshots folder in your Pictures library.
   
2. Snipping Tool: Open the Snipping Tool app from the Start menu. This app allows you to take a screenshot of a specific area on your screen. Once you capture a screenshot, you can save it to any folder you want.
   

This will help us determine if there's an issue with the function.

Problem with screenshots folder

Win 11

I had moved and been using my screenshots folder on my D: drive.

But decided to move it back to my C: drive and have it as a subfolder in my Pictures folder.

I moved it by right click, properties , then the location tab.

Problem is it now saves screenshots in my Picture folder. And not in a subfolder in Pictures folder.

Any suggestions

Please follow these steps to change the directory of the Screenshots folder:

1. Navigate to Pictures\ (The directory of the place where photos are stored.)
   
2. If you have taken a screenshot at least once before, you should see the Screenshots folder.
   
   
   
   
   
3. Right click on the folder and select "Properties" (or press Alt+Enter.)
   
4. Select "Location" and edit the directory to where you want to save your screenshots.
   
   
   
   
   
5. Click "Apply", Windows will move all the current screenshots to that directory (You will be prompted to create the folder if it does not exist) then "OK".
   
6. From now on, when you take a screenshot, it will automatically save to the new directory.
   

This only works for the Windows Snipping Tool (snippingtool.exe) and some other third-party screenshot apps. Other applications might offer an option to customize save directory in its own settings.
