Windows 10: Problems with Transferring Videos to USB Hard Drive

hey so I bought two USB hard drives - for extra space of course - and want to transfer my videos. problem is they barely play in either of them. I tried everything, using jdownloader, transfer one by one, use my other new hard drive, checked for issues - even restarted my computer - and yet nothing seemed to help. oh and in case I haven't mentioned the drives comprise respectively of 64tb and 16tb. help me out on this :'

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Plug USB hard drive into old computer.
• Open File Explorer (Win+E) and open the USB drive.
• Open another File Explorer window and open your documents folder.
• Drag files to the USB drive.
• Move drive to new computer.
• Drag files to their new homes in the matching documents/pictures/videos/whatever folders you use to organize.

USB transfer speed from external hard drive to external hard drive

Transfer speed is dependent on the 'Read' speed from your old hard drive as well as the 'Write' speed to your backup drive. Normally these should be quite fast but if there is a problem with either drive then this could slow down transfer speed a lot and 150 KB/s is so slow as to point to a problem somewhere along the transfer path.

I suspect your drives are HDDs, not SSDs, but I get 305 MB/s transferring between two external SSDs connected to two USB 3.1 ports. This is over 2000x faster than your transfer speed so I suggest you run CHKDSK with repair switch on both drives? See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ommands/chkdsk

• Are you able to watch videos which are stored in computer and online?
• Are you able to view photos and documents etc. from hard drive?
  

I suggest you to install all pending Windows updates and check. Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.



Follow the steps and check if that helps.

• Type Troubleshooting on Search and hit
  Enter.
• Click on View all and click on Video playback.
• Click on Advance and check Apply repairs automatically.
  
• Follow on-screen instructions.

By running this troubleshooter it will find and fix issue with playing movies, television and video. Do let us know if you are able to play videos from external hard drive. Thank you.
