Process in task manager "System" using a lot of resources making the PC extremely slow

I would honestly love to know why this is happening.Everytime I turn on my PC, it's so slow that I have to check the task manager everytime and start killing tasks that are using too many resources. "System" is one of them, but I can't kill it because it's a critical task. Just so you get an idea of how slow it is, it took me about 1 hour just to take this screenshot. This wastes a lot of my time, since I need to wait 2-3 hours for it to stop using resources so I can acually use the PC.I already tried restarting my PC multiple times, unplugging it for a while and then plugging it back, but non

    Task Manager inaccurate?

    Hi
I'm currently troubleshooting a Win10 laptop with an extremely slow startup and using Task Manger to see what's using the resources.
Now according to Task Manager/Processes the disk is running at 99% but in the list there's less than 3Mb in use!
So how is it giving me useful results, is it simply inaccurate or am I misunderstanding it's function?

  3. why is System interrupt slowing down my pc?

    Hello, UNKEL JONES

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

"System Interrupts" refers to when a computer must pause while executing a task to process information from hardware devices or other system requests. When you see the "System Interrupts" process in Task Manager, it means that the computer is waiting for instructions or requests from a hardware device or system component and has paused the task it was executing during the waiting period.

"System Interrupts" is a system process that displays the amount of resources consumed by hardware interrupts. This process does not handle any important operating system functions, but it can check if all hardware components are working properly. It is an official part of the Windows operating system and is displayed as a process in Task Manager.

In some cases, "System Interrupts" may slow down your computer because it may consume a lot of CPU resources. This could be caused by hardware problems, such as disk failures or driver issues, or software problems, such as too many background processes or poor system settings.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    • Confirm that your drivers are compatible with your hardware.
    • Disable any unnecessary background processes or services.
    • Ensure that your computer is not experiencing any overheating problems.
    • Check for any damaged or faulty hardware devices.
If the problem still persists, there may be no other solution but to consult a professional computer repair service or reinstall the operating system.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

    Best regards,

  4. Process in task manager "System" using a lot of resources making the PC extremely slow

Why is my PC running so slow out of no where?

    Hi Ethan

Im Juliet and Im happy to help you Process in task manager "System" using a lot of resources making the PC extremely slow :)

There are several potential reasons for a sudden slowdown in PC performance, even when CPU and memory usage appear normal in Task Manager.

I would suggest you try to Check for background processes. While Task Manager can give you a quick glimpse of what processes are currently running on your PC, it may not show everything. Look for any processes that are using up a lot of resources or seem unfamiliar, and consider ending them.

To check for background processes that may be affecting your PC's performance, follow these steps:

    1. Right-click on the taskbar and select "Task Manager" from the menu that appears.

    2. In the Task Manager window, click on the "More details" button in the bottom left corner to expand the view.

    3. Click on the "Processes" tab to view a list of all running processes on your PC.

    4. Check the "CPU" and "Memory" columns to see which processes are using the most resources. If a process is using a high percentage of CPU or memory, it may be causing your PC to slow down.

    5. If you see a process that you don't recognize or that seems suspicious, right-click on it and select "End task" to stop it. Be careful not to end any processes that are critical to the operation of your PC.

    6. You can also click on the "Details" tab in Task Manager to view more information about each process, including the file path and the user who initiated it.

I hope this helps! Process in task manager "System" using a lot of resources making the PC extremely slow :)
