Had this odd ball process running on my laptop to. Seems kind of shady and I don't want it running period. The quoted information from above worked to stop it.

You can also take ownership of the System32 directory using the security tab found in the folders properties dialog window. In there have your account name become the owner then close and reopen the properties window. From there you just edit the groups and give your account (now the owner of System32) full access. Then you can show the files extension and rename the .exe part to something like .off

I did that before trying the fix mentioned on the forum here, taking ownership worked and Windows seems unaffected by the change to the file name or the reworked ownership of the System32 directory. Just an alternative if the other methods don't seem to affect it. Don't forget you can find any running processes location in the file system by right clicking the process and choosing the option to open the files location.
