Processor performance boost mode turns on automatically

I am using HP Victus 16 Ryzen 5 7640HS RTX4050 Windows 11 Home laptop. To solve the overheating problem under load, I disabled the "Processor performance boost mode" setting in the power plan settings. But for some reason I don't know how, sometimes when I turn the laptop off and on, it opens in "Product and Active" mode. I couldn't understand why it opened by itself like this. Can you please help?

    :)

How to stop windows from changing process performance boost setting automatically?

    Hi,

    R. Cord here, Independent Expert. Hope you are doing well.

To prevent Windows from automatically changing your processor performance boost setting, you can try the following steps:

Open the "Power Options" settings by right-clicking on the battery icon in the taskbar and selecting "Power Options" or by typing "power options" into the Start menu search bar.

Click on "Change plan settings" for the power plan that you are currently using.

Click on "Change advanced power settings."

Scroll down to the "Processor power management" section and expand it.

Expand the "Maximum processor state" option and make sure that it is set to 100%. This will ensure that your processor is always running at maximum performance and not being limited by any power-saving settings.

Check if there is any option for "Processor performance boost mode" or "Processor performance boost policy" and set it to "Disabled."

Click "Apply" and "OK" to save the changes.

If you have already disabled the processor performance boost mode in the registry, then step 6 might not be applicable to your case. However, it is still important to make sure that your processor is not being limited by any power-saving settings in the power plan.

Additionally, you can try disabling any automatic updates for your power plan settings by going to "Control Panel" > "System and Security" > "Power Options" > "Edit Plan Settings" > "Change advanced power settings" > "Change settings that are currently unavailable" and unchecking the "Allow wake timers" option. This may prevent Windows from automatically changing your power plan settings in the future.

    King regards,

    R. Cord

  4. Processor performance boost mode turns on automatically

Processor Performance Boost Mode registry key?

Hello! My name is Cristiano. I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you.

The registry key you're looking for is located in the following path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7

The specific value you'll need to change depends on the power plan you're using, but it should be one of the following:

"BoostState" (DWORD): Set this to 1 to enable the performance boost mode, or 0 to disable it.

"BoostValue" (DWORD): Set this to the desired boost value in hexadecimal format (e.g. 0x3 for a boost value of 3).

You can use the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) to navigate to the key and modify the value manually, or you can create a batch file that uses the "reg" command to change the value.

Here's an example batch file that sets the BoostState value to 1:

    __________________________________________________________________

    @Echo off

    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7" /v "BoostState" /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

echo Processor performance boost mode enabled.

    pause

    __________________________________________________________________

Note that modifying registry keys can have unintended consequences if done incorrectly, so be sure to make a backup of your registry before making any changes. Also, keep in mind that enabling performance boost mode may increase your CPU's temperature and power consumption, so use it at your own risk.
