Hello, and thank you for your interest. I tried to go and get the ISO for win7 as you suggested, I could be wrong but I beleive the download will only be allowed to copies of windows that were released to customers on a disc. In my case the laptop was bought
from "Maplin electronics" with Windows 7 pre-installed. The laptop has a certificate of authenticity stuck on the underside, but sadly, no 25 digit code. I tried a utility program I found on the web to find the key off the machine, but it does'nt work. before
I upgraded to win 10 I went to "system" and this is the ID key given:-00371-OEM-8992671-00437.

• Click on Start and type: Command Prompt.
• Right click on it and select Run as administrator.
• Type: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey.
• Press Enter. That should give you the product key to type in the activation.

Win 10 won't upgrade legal activated win 7 pro

Sorry, I seem to have mis-read your instructions.

It looks to me as if they got downgrade media with the PC and downgraded from Win 8 Pro to Win 7 Pro.
I thought that should be perfectly alright.
