Windows 10: Product Key does not work, error 0xc004f050

Hi

I bought Windows 10 Home edition today and tried to update the product key but got the error mentioned above. I had purchased this laptop in year 2015 with Windows pro installed.


Please help to sort out the issue.

Product key does not work

I have a product key for Windows 10 Pro/Education acquired from my university's Microsoft DreamSpark Std site. But when I try to upgrade my Windows 10 Home to Pro with it, it shows an error message "The product key that you entered didn't work. Check the
product key and try again, or enter a different one. (0xc004f050)". What shall I do? Thank you

May be a key/edition mismatch...

Yes, it does mean that this is not a valid product key to be used. Refer below Microsoft help on this error
