Windows 10: Product key not working after updating Windows 10. Error message 0xc004f050.

My Win 10 was originally Home version. A few months ago I was asked to update due to expiry reasons. Somehow it got updated to Win Pro 1909. Then a few days ago a message keeps popping up saying my Windows is expiring soon. I entered the product key in Activation & it says "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a different one. 0xc004f050"


After numerous searches & redirections in Microsoft's labyrinth of "support pages", somehow I managed to get a call from a human being instead of being redirected to the Get Help agent from Bellevue, WA informing the product key I have which I got from the command prompt is actually for Home version not Pro, thus creating the issue. How did it happen since I used the Update Assistant? Oh because sometimes it just does automatically switching from Home to Pro according to him.


I was told to call my local Malaysia support team, which I already tried many times before actually, for advice on how to revert to Home version. I was assured the technical team would be available but alas today is Sunday. When I called, of course I was told to call on business days & hours instead.


In the meantime I checked for updates. There was & Update Assistant helped to update from version 1909 to 2004. But still Win Pro, not Home.

If I truly need to do a clean installation by making backups of my huge files then **** you Microsoft it was your FUBAR in the first place. I might as well buy the cheap pirated activation key. Unless you can convince me otherwise.

I upgraded my PC with windows update to windows 10, then i downloaded the iso file from Microsoft to make a clean install, and now my product key wont work.

I am trying activate windows 10 with my product key which is from a Microsoft windows 7 home premium upgrade disc and I keep getting the error code 0xc004f050. I do currently have the windows 10 home (64bit) edition installed. Any help on how to get this
product key to work would be greatly appreciated.
