Windows 10: Product Key Roadblock

    Product Key Roadblock


    I've run the media creation tool and waited the hours it took to download, only to find that it's asking me for a product key. Why didn't they ask me for this before wasting everyone's bandwidth?

    Is there anything that can be done? I've successfully installed this on my other systems, but those computers have had the offer icon for weeks now. This computer never got the offer for some reason. Am I stuck with Windows 7 then?

    Unable to activate Windows 10 license key after re-installation

    Windows update ended up being the roadblock. Enabled it, activated my product, and then shut it right back off.

    Windows 10 Update: Product Key (Windows 8) doesn't work

    I downloaded the Windows 10 upgrade this morning, and I'm looking forward to installing it, but I've hit a roadblock and could use some help.

    When prompted for a Product Key, I entered the key from the email I received when I upgraded my machine from Windows 7 to Windows 8. The installer tells me the key didn't work, and to try again or try a different key.

    This is the only key I've got for this machine. How do I get past this and get the new upgrade installed?

    Product Key Roadblock

    Where are you being asked for a installation key? Is it while running the MediaCreationTool or when you try to do the upgrade to Win 10?

    Did you/are you creating a ISO or flash drive?

    What OS is on this computer?
    Is it activated and legal?
