Windows 10: Product Key

I've reinstalled Windows twice and the format says the last time the software has been updated is 2004 even though I got the laptop 2 months ago. I am wondering why is the product key hidden on the motherboard? I got this as a gift so I have no way of knowing where it would be or how to find it? I've even downloaded and used CMD to search for it and it's only returned other keys for windows but not the product key which is responsible for activation. Please advise!

Like davidhk said. But if you really want to see your windows key, I would suggest Belarc advisor. It will give you some useful information about your system, product keys of your software is among them (not only Microsoft, you will have listed most of your keys).
