Product keys saved with system restore

When a system restore USB is created, and a system image is used to restore the PC, is the product key kept with that PC or do you have to purchase another one? I'm currently using a PC running Ubuntu after Windows 10 crashed and died. Thanks for the help.

    :)

  2. Windows XP PRO error after restore

System restore is handy when it works like it did for me 2 days ago saving the need to reinstall all of my software as well as windows, id suggest using norton Ghost 12 for an excellent system restore feature.

Where is my Product Key if I want to re-install?

Like davidhk said. But if you really want to see your windows key, I would suggest Belarc advisor. It will give you some useful information about your system, product keys of your software is among them (not only Microsoft, you will have listed most of your keys).

"All your files are right where you left them"...yeah, but where are my product keys?!

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing in Windows. We will help you.

    • As you have mentioned that you are unable to access the Microsoft Office 2010 application after the update in Windows 10. As it would be purchased previously, I would suggest you to login to office 365 site and you could still download the application if
      it has been already purchased.

    • If it was a pirated version then I would suggest you to contact the support team and purchase the keys and activate the Microsoft office 2010.

    Refer: Choose your Office

If these options are not helping you then I would suggest you to refer the below steps and check if it helps.

I would suggest you to perform a system restore.

System restore will take your computer to pervious state when it was not facing such problem, this can be done by selecting the proper restore point.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    • Press Windows key + R.
    • Type rstrui.exe and click
      OK.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the System restore process.
Disclaimer: When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed after that date are removed.

Reference: Restore from a system restore point &
    Create a system restore point

Hope this helps. Keep us posted to help you better.
