Windows 10: Producy Key is replaced on upgrade and not honored

Hi. My son purchased windows 8.1 at a store. He upgraded to windows 10. After a motherboard replacement he was told that he needs to activate windows. He tried with his windows 10 product key and was told that he needs his 8.1 key (long gone / lost). Why won't Microsoft honor the upgrade key they gave him which still seems to be there.

Thank you for posting your reply. I apologize for the delay in response.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand the Audio drivers from the list.
• Right click on the driver, click Uninstall.
• Reboot the computer. The drivers will get installed automatically.

If the issue still persists, suggest you to run the System Maintenance troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Type Troubleshooting in the search box and press Enter.
• Click on View All in the top left pane.
• From the list click on System Maintenance and follow the on screen prompts.

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

Dear Santa,

I want to upgrade my primary PC this year, my MB/CPU is almost 5 years old now, and I've got the upgrade itch.

It's going to be built around an unlocked Ivy Bridge CPU, namely the 3770k

But first, I've got a few questions for you:

• What chipsets support that CPU? I think the X79 and X77?
• Is the 3770k going to be replaced with a better model, better stepping, etc in 2012 or early 2013?

Oh and is the world going to end in Dec 2012?
