Windows 10: Program says I entered entered incorrect PIN several times, but I never entered one in

Yesterday my laptop said there was something wrong and needed to restart and update. It started without allowing me to prompt. I found this suspicious and gave it a manual shutdown.



Today I turn on the computer and then it updated automatically again. I let it this time. When I went to unlock it, it said “you’ve entered an incorrect PIN several times” and prompted me “to try again, enter A1B2C3 below.”


I never entered the PIN since all of this happened and I suspect it is a hack. I was on an untrusted site on Firefox and believe that could be it. Once I realized, I left, but before I could leave the page restarted itself.


I have everything that is important backed up, so I have no issue factory resetting if I have to, but if there is another way, I would like to try that out first.

Entered an Incorrect PIN too Many Times

I will try waiting several days as you did. When steps are suggested they aren't understanding that there are no choice...the screen just says you have entered the wrong pin too many times....that's all. Then restart your computer. No other choices are
on the screen.

 

Required to type 'A1B2C3' before entering PIN

As of a week ago, I have been receiving the error message, "You've entered an incorrect PIN serveral times. To try again enter A1B2C3 below." The problem with that is that I have never entered my PIN incorrectly and am the only one that utilizes my desktop. I have ran malware/virus scans and have turned up zero discrepancies. Additionally, I reinstalled Windows 10 (and activated) a month ago after upgrading my motherboard, processor, and memory. So why is it asking me to enter in this letter/number combination EVERY time despite never having entered in my PIN incorrectly? This is rather annoying and essentially a two-step authentication factor, of sorts, that I did not ask for. Is anyone else experiencing this?

 

Entered an Incorrect PIN too Many Times

I have Windows 10 on Surface Pro 3. Everything works great until today. I use a local account with NO password, but I set up a simple pin. Today, it doesn't recognize my Pin. It says

"You've entered an incorrect PIN too many times. To try again, restart your device."

I restarted many time and it shows the same message even when I only entered once. Is there any way I can get in to my device without resetting it?
