Program throwing security restriction/path access denied error when exporting file

Hello all,I use a translation program called memoQ to translate files. I select a file from my computer usually in Documents, the program imports it, I translate, and then press an "Export" button and the translated file is automatically exported to the same folder from which the original file came. This worked fine on Windows 10, but I recently updated to Windows 11, and now the program is throwing the following errors when I try to export files in this manner:Export failed: Access to the path 'C:\Users\ J*****\Documents\S***\W***\C******\H*******\O****\H*****\' is denied. The security restr

File access is denied, and security tab doesn't have Read permissions.

Here's a list of all the errors that I've been getting whenever I try to open, give myself access/read permissions, delete, or change files several files in Program Files(x86). This is the original computer for those files, I am the ONLY user, I am an administrator,
yet these files want me to give permission to myself to edit these files. And when I do, they tell me "Access is Denied".

    Errors:

    - [file path] is not accessible. Access is denied

    - Properties > General >Unclick Read-only > give admin permission > An error occurred applying attributes to the file: [file path] Access is denied.

    - Properties > Security > You must have Read permissions to view the properties of this object

-Properties > Security > Advanced > Unable to display current owner. > Change (as admin) > You do not have permission to view or edit this object's permission settings.

And by some miracle, when I do get to see the security tab, and I try to change it, it says I'm the owner, yet it still says:

    - [file path] is not accessible. Access is denied

And when I try to change the owner from myself, to myself again:

    - An error occured while applying security information to: [file path] Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied.

I've looked at a bunch of questions similar to mine, but none of the solutions worked. Mostly because my Security tab doesn't allow changes for some reason. Is there something I'm missing? or do I need to take my computer in to a shop to get it fixed?

    Anything will help. Thank you.

  3. Error, "Access to the Path is denied", thrown when using Group Security

    Hi there,

I am using a product called Laserfiche Workflow.

It is running a VB.NET script I created, which exports a PDF from Workflow to a File Server Windows Directory using a UNC path.

The Workflow service account (windows account) that is running the process is a member of an Active Directory group. The active directory group has been given Modify rights to the folder where I am wanting to export the PDFs. It also has share permissions.

When I log onto the File server as the Workflow service account, I am able to browse to the folder and import/delete PDFs.

I am also able to log onto the Workflow Server as the service account and reach the folder using the UNC path. I am able to import/delete PDFs.

When I run my script, I receive the "Access to the path is denied".

I verified with Laserfiche Support that it is not a Laserfiche issue. Their developers confirmed that the SDK does not calculate security on the target folder, but it just attempts to write to the target folder. They confirmed my script was correct.

I was able to provide a workaround by explicitly adding the service account to the target folder's security. I provided the service account Modify rights like the AD Group.

I logged onto the File Server as the service account and was able to browse to the folder and import/delete PDFs.

I was also able to log onto the Workflow Server as the service account and browse to the folder using the UNC path.

When I went to run my script, it was successful.

When I went to remove the service account and ran the same script, it threw the "Access Denied" error.

I am wanting to know why I am receiving the error when I am using Group security. But, when I explicitly add the service account to the target folder, it is successful.

Getting Access Denied Error When Trying To Rename A File.

    Hi Denise,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

To have better clarity on the issue, answer the below-listed questions and get back to us.

    1. Since when are you facing this issue?
    2. Were there any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?
    3. Do you get this error when modifying all the files and folders or a particular file or folder?

Meanwhile, try the below methods and see if this helps.

Method 1: Take The Ownership Of The File/Folder.

I suggest you to follow the section Issue 1: I receive an "Access Denied" error message when I try to access or work with files and folders from

"Access Denied" or other errors when you access or work with files and folders in Windows
    ,
restart the computer once after following the steps, and check for the issue.

Method 2: Turn Off User Account Control.

Note: User Account Control (UAC) is feature that helps prevent malicious programs, also known as 'malware', from damaging a system. UAC stops the automatic installation of unauthorized applications. UAC also prevents unintended changes to
system settings. If you have to disable this feature or option for any troubleshooting reason, then please enable it as soon as the troubleshooting is done. A security risk may result by using administrative credentials to run an unknown program. Only run
programs that you trust as an administrator.

Step 1: Press the Windows key and the
    R
key from your keyboard and type Control and hit
    Enter
    .

Step 2: Select Small icons from the View by category and click on
User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings.

Step 3: Then, change it to Never notify by sliding down the slider,
restart the computer once after making the above changes, and check for the issue.

Give it a shot and let us know of any changes.

If my answer has helped, then please upvote or mark as an answer.
