Programing Not Launching With "Enter" key from Windows Search 0h0joTqS8m_bVNZFlSSaGFWEPxVGjk_QR4ndsF0hUv8.jpg

I just started having issues tonight where Windows 10 will refuse to start an application after pressing the Windows key on keyboard and searching for an application.

For example, if I press the windows key and type "calc" without quotes in the search bar, usually when I press the "enter" key, the calculator application will open.

After a reboot of my system tonight, this is no longer the case. Now, when I press "enter" key on my keyboard after searching for an application, a little section comes up with the words “please make a selection”.

I can still open the application by moving my mouse to the searched application, and clicking it will make it open.

Has anyone experienced this before? It is quite frustrating as I use the search bar to open many applications and having to mouse over it to start it will not work out for me…

All my other computers do not have this problem and this only started after a cold reboot. No updates were performed during the restart process.

    Any help is appreciated.

Picture of the issue is below.

Cannot Launch "Desktop Apps" from Windows 10 Search by Typing

    Machine/Version: I'm using a SurfacePro 3/Windows 10 version 1067 with current updates.

Problem: Recently most apps will *NOT* launch from Windows search. For instance, if I want to launch O365 MS Word, I type [Windows Key]->"word", and Search finds "Word 2016." When I hit [Enter], Word does *NOT* launch. When I click on the icon that displays
in the search results, it also does *NOT* launch. It *seems* like the problem is limited to programs that say "Desktop App" in the search results.

Workaround: In order to launch Word, I must find it in the programs list (i.e., [Windows Key]->scroll down to 'W' programs, click on Word). I can also launch programs from icons pinned to the taskbar, but this is not my preferred method since I don't like
    a cluttered taskbar or desktop.

Strange Observation: Interestingly, *SOME* programs do launch from search by hitting [Enter]. I don't know how to categorize them except to say that the seem to be "core" Windows programs/GUIs. For example, I can type [Windows Key] "updates, "settings"
or "network" and the right program/GUI *DOES* launch. But if I type "services," the program/GUI does *NOT* launch.

    Help. Pretty please.
