Windows 10: Programs crashing after update

Windows 10 32-bit

On the night of 11 March Windows must have updated. the next morning when I logged on it did the usual slow "do not turn off - updating.... which it does after an upgrade.

Since then several programs have crashed with a blue screen and message saying informing Microsoft. Even Notepad crashed when I tried to print from it!

The Update section of settings says I have not had an update since 20/02/2021

and that because that is more than 10 days ago I cannot uninstall it.


I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the softwarewchich crashes, including resetting before & after.

Please can you help!

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

W1zzard is asking you to test so that he can suggest next steps and be able to troubleshoot the issue you have.
If another version works, it would be one set of steps.
If several other versions also fail/crash, then it would be another.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
