Windows 10: Prompt an Error "Something Went Wrong" When Registering a New Fingerprint as Windows Hello...

Hello All,I am writing this as I am having an issue when register a new fingerprint to use the Windows Hello function.I have searched the solutions online but it seems does not help for me, so here are the solutions I tried:1. Reinstall the Drivers of the Fingerprint Scanner- My fingerprint scanner device name is Goodix MOC Fingerprint, using the latest driver 3.4.32.460.2. Disable the Fingerprint Scanner and Re-enable the Fingerprint Scanner- Tried. The situation is still the same.3. Delete the WinBioDatabase CacheHere are the steps: 1. Open Services console Windows key + R and type Services

Windows Hello Not Registering Fingerprint

I have a problem with Windows Hello when I attempt to register my fingerprint on my Dell laptop after a fresh install.

The first time I place my fingerprint on the scanner, Windows Hello says great and prompts me to do so again,, but the second time will always return a "something went wrong" error and I am then prompted to close Windows Hello and try again.

Hardware-wise, the fingerprint scanner appears in Device Manager with no errors, Dell's hardware check says there is no problem, and when I try to use the back of my fingertip on the scanner instead of the front, Windows Hello is actually able to tell me that the scanner cannot detect my fingerprint.

I have repeated this with both Windows 10 and 11 installations and both versions return the same error. I have looked through other potential solutions, including:

1. Uninstalling and reinstalling fingerprint scanner in Device Manager
2. Restarting Windows Biometric Service
3. Disabling Power Management (option doesn't appear in Device Manager)

4. Resetting fingerprint on reboot (option doesn't appear in BIOS)

All the above have not worked. Appreciate advice on how I could solve this problem. While I can live without the fingerprint scanner, it's frustrating that it used to work but no longer does.

We'd like to know a couple of things so that we can better address your concern. Kindly answer the following:

• Did you use a Microsoft account to sign in before you registered your fingerprint? If so, are you using the same Microsoft account right now to do the same thing?
• What was the exact error message that you got? It would be great if you can provide us a screenshot.
• Have you tried signing in with the previous fingers you registered?

If you're using the same Microsoft account to register your fingerprints and you were able to sign in with the fingers you previously registered, that means they are already registered in Windows Hello and you don't need to re-register them again (thus,
the possible error you're getting). You have the option to add multiple fingerprints or remove all fingerprints that are currently registered under your account.

Windows Hello Fingerprint Setup not working

I have same issue with my laptop HP DV6 Pavilion.WIndows hello finger print setup is not working even after this above solution .When i setup finger print sensor i recieve error something went wrong.
