    Prompted for BitLocker recovery key every time I switch on my pc


    I am prompted to enter Bitlocker Recovery Key everytime I switch on my computer. It did not used to happen before. I have Windows11 installed and have no idea what has caused it. After I entered my bitlocker key the first time, the windows did not load, so I had to reset kept old data and now I do not have the option to enter my pin. I can only log in with my password.Any help is highly appreciated.Thanks

    For further clarity on the issue and to guide you accordingly, respond to the questions listed below:



    1. Since when are you facing this issue?
    2. Are you aware of any changes being made to the PC?
    3. Which version of Windows is installed on the PC?
    4. What is the make and model of the PC?


    This issue can be caused if a BIOS/firmware update has been pushed to your PC either through Windows Updates or any other OEM media update.



    If you have set up the Bitlocker on your PC, I suggest you to look for the recovery key on your Microsoft account. Also, you can refer the article

    Find my BitLocker recovery key    .

    Prompted for BitLocker recovery key every time I switch on my pc

    BitLocker is turning computer on and prompting for recovery key daily

    When the computer is turned on, it will prompt for a 8-256 character password to unlock the drive. In some cases, if the password is typed incorrectly too many times, BitLocker will prompt for the recovery key.

    In this case, the computer is turned on and is already at the recovery key step.

    We have checked the overnight cameras and nobody is attempting to use this user's device.
