I agree that security is more important then some performance loss in general. But at the same time it would be nice if people would post benchmarks and share how much performance impact they had after this patch. We know that the windows update had minor impact on performance, and that the intel patch is the one that can have serious impact on our pc's performance.

  2. Always only money. No have money for new comp. This is only for the rich 4 year old computer junk. Because of mythical threats, I lost the opportunity to do what I did before on my laptop. Now what? Play it on Tetris? I was robbed by insolent and deceitful software vendors and computers. The whole world is in trouble, the servers are slowing down, ping is sometimes not real. My Hasvel after the flashing it with a probability of almost 100% will kill the computer. To me, then why? What the hell are the viruses and uroses? I do a system backup every 3 days. I say, it's an industrial conspiracy, maybe implicit, but profitable for both sides, to make the whole world update the computer park. Only Microsoft and Intel can do this.

    Hi,

Nobody "has to" update his/her computer. It's your choice at the end of the day.

Pretty sure if they were mythical threats, Intel AMD and Microsoft would not be bothering to spend time and money fixing them, having said that if you are confident you can keep any malware that can access these exploits off your system, many Computer users are not, then it's probably neither here nor there if you bother patching them.

  7. I would certainly patch if I were you or else you are in big doo-doo for sure. And this time around it's really needed for sure... if you don't want any trouble with your trusty PC that is... *Smile

HP has just removed all the fixes from their website!

    here is what they say:

In response to Intel’s recommendation, HP is taking the following actions:
    • HP is removing HP BIOS softpaqs with Intel microcode patches from hp.com.
    • HP will be reissuing HP BIOS softpaqs with previous Intel microcode starting January 25, 2018.
    • Once Intel reissues microcode updates, HP will issue revised Softpaqs.
    No Idea what went wrong~!

So has Dell. The reboot issue, and general performance drop problems. Sluggish..... not everyone, but enough.
