    I get these notifications all day, every day - started in September - a few a month. Then on Dec. 5th, through now - all day, erryday!

    I opened a post a few weeks ago, and my questions were not answered, so I am opening a new post:

    The following message briefly pops up several times, then stops for a while, then pops up again:

    "Virus and threat protection

    Unauthorized Changes Blocked

    Controlled Folder Access Blocked C:\...

    \DDV Data Collector... From Making Changes To Memory"

    Someone updated my post with the following reply:

    "Its a new feature in Windows 10 1709. For users who might be getting that error, here is how you remove.

    Open Windows Defender Security Center

    Click Virus & threat protection

    Click Virus & threat protection settings

    Scroll down to Controlled folder access

    Toggle it off"

    My questions that did not get answered:

    1. Is this a "real" problem (something is trying to make unauthorized changes), or is a problem with Windows 10 ?

    2. If something is trying to make unauthorized changes, why would I be told to toggle off the "controlled folder access" ?

    Using an older program, Paint Shop Pro 7, trying to save a photo to a new location such as the desktop or a library I am not allowed, and get this message.

    I am trying to save this file yet the message seems to suggest I am searching for it!

    Windows 10 - up to date

    I've been getting these notifications "Unauthorized Changes Blocked" from windows defender for some time now. Ended up getting 9 today which is why I'm posting.

    The applications are numerous the ones today are: VSSVC blocked making changes to memory, svchost.exe from making changes to memory,...

    Not sure why these are being blocked if part of the system should I fix something?
