Windows 10 Calculator Date days diff wrong?!

We're getting a funky result with this... it appears to calculate the days difference minus one day...

For instance, if I put in begin date March 1, 2017, then end date March 31, 2017, it says the days difference is 29 days...

If I look at a calendar and count (starting at March 2 as day 1) to March 31, it comes up as 30 days (starting at March 1 of course would be 31 days)...

If I don't count March 1st and I don't count March 31st, then it's 29 days, but this doesn't make sense, since the difference between 31 and 1 is actually 30... If I count any other two dates, Microsoft still says it's one day less than it looks like it
should be. As far as I know Excel works the same way...

If I go back to the Standard calculator and type in 31 minus 1, it says 30! What's going on with the Date calculator?!

UPDATE: I discovered Microsoft, like some date-calculating websites, consider daylight savings days to not be a full day because they only have 23 hours in them... even though the day number (of the month) increases after that 23 hours. Other programs appear
to consider that 23-hour day to actually be a day, so Microsoft is counting days by dividing by 24.

    Window's 10 Calculator won't launch

    Hi Dan,

There could be a number of factors as to why you are having issues launching the Calculator app on Windows 10. This could be caused by a software conflict or due to the application itself.

You may consider resetting the Calculator app. To do this, refer to the steps below:

    • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & feature.
    • Click the Calculator app from the list and then choose Advanced options.
    • Click Reset.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you create a new user account. This is for us to check if the issue is due to a corrupted user profile. To do this, select the Start button, then select
Settings > Accounts > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC.

Let us know how it goes and we'll assist you further if needed.
