    So, today I wanted to use an old PS2 Keyboard of mine on my laptop. It used to work back then, but now it just lights up the num pad lock lights, the caps lock lights, and scroll lock light for a brief second. Then it comes up as a barcode reader? Its very strange... Even then, it looks like it has been tried to be removed to be changed by being soldered again i dont really know? I could try to resolder the thing again, cause it could be just the positive volt or ground or data or it could be the timer cable that had a bad soldering joint... Any answers? I am using a PS2 to USB adapter

    Does that apply even if the motherboard PS2 socket is a dual keyboard AND mouse ?

    Some keyboards will work with either the attahed usb or an added adapter. It depends on the keyboard.

    Example:
    ADVENT - Cheap ADVENT Deals | Currys PC World

    Connectivity Wired, USB, PS/2, Serial (RS-232)

    It doesn't come with a ps2 adapter, but it works with one.
